Fan gives birth outside Jay Chou concert venue in Malaysia
Many fans do whatever they can to attend their idol’s events, but nothing can possibly top what happened at a Jay Chou concert in Malaysia on 26 Oct.
To other attendees’ surprise, a fan gave birth while waiting to enter the Taiwanese singer’s concert at Bukit Jalil Stadium yesterday evening.
A couple of other fans posted videos of the incident on Douyin and Xiaohongshu.
“We thought she fainted, but after the concert, we saw the news and found out that she gave birth on the spot,” user @Angel_1122 wrote on Douyin.
Event organisers & medics aid birth
In @Angel_1122’s video, four women wearing black – presumably event organisers – are seen covering someone with thin, coloured sheets.
Meanwhile, two medics are seen assisting the person who seems to be lying on the floor.
In another video posted by 莱霓纹眉美睫 on Xiaohongshu, a woman cradling a baby is seen being escorted in a stretcher into an ambulance.
As the scene unfolded, the crowd cheered, with some shouting “It’s born”.
In the comments section of the video, the OP said the woman gave birth right at the entrance of the venue.
Fan’s labour at concert venue draws varied reactions
The incident drew a range of reactions on social media.
Some expressed concern for the baby’s safety and called the mother “irresponsible” for going to a show when she was about to give birth.
However, another netizen speculated that the mother could have been far away from the due date, but her excitement induced her into labour.
Another commenter said the woman was lucky she gave birth early, as there was also an Andy Lau concert happening nearby, which meant there would be a lot of traffic.
Meanwhile, another netizen quipped that the woman should have gone into labour two hours later during the concert itself to make the birth more “meaningful”.
Others suggested that the baby should be named Jielun after Mr Chou’s Chinese name or Kunling after the singer’s wife.
