Car carrying teen who broke home detention curfew crashes into S‘pore Prison Service van in Yishun

17-year-old former drug offender crashes into prison vehicle while fleeing, arrested in Yishun

On 31 July, a 17-year-old former drug offender was arrested in Yishun after breaching her home detention curfew and crashing into a Singapore Prison Service (SPS) vehicle while attempting to flee.

According to a statement seen by MS News, the teenager — previously placed on SPS’s Community-Based Programme (CBP) — had failed to return home after curfew on 17 July and did not report to SPS for investigations.

SPS said the girl had been admitted to the Drug Rehabilitation Centre on 16 Oct 2024 for drug consumption, before being placed on home detention on 6 June 2025.

As part of the CBP, she was electronically tagged, required to observe curfew hours, hold a job or be in school, and report for urine tests and counselling sessions.

Incident happened at Yishun carpark

The girl had breached her curfew and not returned to her residence on 17 July 2025.

She also did not report to SPS to assist in investigations about her CBP conditions being breached, despite being called up. This resulted in her CBP order being cancelled.

At about 9.30pm on 31 July 2025, SPS acted on a lead and spotted the teenager in a car with a 22-year-old man. The vehicle was leaving a carpark near Block 269A and 269B along Yishun Street 22.
