Flash flood along Ophir Road subsided within an hour, says PUB
For the second day in a row, a heavy downpour caused flood risk warnings to be issued across the island.
This time, one of the locations affected was Ophir Road, where a flash flood occurred.

Flash flood in Ophir Road subsided at 2.50pm: PUB
In a Facebook post on Sunday (17 Nov) afternoon, national water agency PUB said the flash flood along Ophir Road developed at around 2.08pm.
It was “due to high water levels in the adjacent drains”, PUB added.
A PUB Quick Response Team and the Land Transport Authority’s EMAS vehicle recovery crew were deployed to assist motorists before the flash flood subsided within an hour at 2.50pm.
PUB issued a number of flood risk warnings on 17 Nov
On Sunday, PUB issued a number of flood risk warnings for locations across Singapore due to the heavy rainfall.
According to the PUB Flood Alerts Telegram channel, members of the public were alerted to avoid Ophir Rd near the F1 building.

Other areas it warned against included Upper Hokkien Street/South Bridge Road, Tanjong Pagar Road/Craig Road and a section of Jalan Boon Lay from Enterprise Road to International Road.
67.4mm of rain fell in southern S’pore over less than 2 hours
According to PUB, the heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon was experienced at the northern, western and southern areas of Singapore.
The heaviest rainfall recorded that day was a total of 67.4mm in southern Singapore over less than two hours — from 1.10pm to 2.55pm.
“This amount corresponds to 27% of Singapore’s average monthly rainfall in November,” PUB said.
It also lies within the top 12% of maximum daily rainfall records since 1978.
Moderate to heavy showers expected in the afternoons on most days
PUB also warned of moderate to heavy showers across Singapore in the afternoons on most days.
This is due to the onset of the Northeast Monsoon.
On Friday, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) had made a similar forecast for the second half of November.

These “sudden and intense storms” may “temporarily overwhelm our canals and drains”, PUB added.

PUB encouraged members of the public to use the MyENV app and subscribe to the PUB Flood Alerts Telegram channel to get alerts on heavy rain and flood risk warnings.
