Husband in China tells rescuers to save his wife first
Netizens in China were touched when they witnessed a husband telling rescuers to save his wife first during an ongoing flood.
The man made sure his wife was well looked after before he received some much-needed attention as well.
According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), the incident occurred on 28 July as northern China was hit with heavy rain.
Couple trapped in eatery as flood hit
While more than 10,000 residents were evacuated from Jizhou District in northern Tianjin and floodwaters rose to as high as one metre on the streets, a couple found themselves trapped inside their eatery.
A video showed the moment rescue workers saved the pair from the flood.
“Save my wife first. She cannot swim,” the husband said.
Workers tossed a life ring towards the eatery, with the couple peering from behind the metal shutters.
When the man received the life ring, he put it on his wife and pushed her towards the rescuers.
He then held tightly onto her as strong currents threatened to drag her away.

With the help of some rope, the rescuers were eventually able to pull the woman to safety.
Wanting his wife to be safe as soon as possible, he gestured to the rescuers that he was able to cope without the extra help.
“I am fine. I can swim. You just take her to safety first,” he said to the rescuers, who urged him to join her.
