SAF Personnel Get Covid-19 Vaccine From 14 Jan
With Covid-19 vaccines now available on our shores, more people in Singapore are gradually getting inoculated against the coronavirus.
In addition to frontline workers in the medical, aviation, and maritime industries, defence personnel from the SAF have also begun receiving the vaccine.
As more SAF personnel get vaccinated against the coronavirus, more training activities will be allowed to resume.
More SAF training can resume as more personnel receive vaccine
In a Facebook post on Thursday (21 Jan), Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) shared that some SAF personnel have started receiving Covid-19 vaccine from last Thursday (14 Jan) at the MINDEF Medical Centre.
Joining the first batch of SAF personnel to get vaccinated were Minister of Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen and Second Minister of State Mr Zaqy Mohamad.
Describing the jab, Mr Zaqy said it was “fast and efficient”, urging all SAF personnel to get vaccinated.
In fact, SAF hopes to get most of their regulars and full-time servicemen vaccinated by mid-2021.
According to Dr Ng, vaccines will be prioritised in the following order for SAF personnel:
- Medical and Covid-19 frontline personnel
- Personnel in critical units
- Remaining SAF personnel
As more personnel get vaccinated, SAF will reportedly be allowed to resume more training activities and ensure that the it is operationally ready.
The initial batch of recipients will get their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine 3 weeks later.
Hope vaccines will allow us to resume normalcy in our lives
We are heartened that more of our frontline heroes are receiving their Covid-19 vaccination over the recent days and weeks.
Hopefully, this would gradually spell the end of the pandemic, and allow us to resume normalcy in our daily lives.
