Car causes collision on TPE by e-braking, driver alights for confrontation with bus
A collision involving a car and a bus unfolded on the Tampines Expressway (TPE), reportedly near Exit 2A toward the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE) on 7 Dec.
Mercedes suddenly brakes twice, causing bus collision
In a video shared on social media, a black Mercedes Benz was seen overtaking a bus on the TPE’s middle lane before abruptly changing lanes in front of it.

The car then suddenly braked, prompting the bus to slow down to avoid rear-ending it.

Moments later, the Mercedes braked sharply again, leading to a minor collision with the bus.

After the collision, the Mercedes came to a full stop in the middle of the expressway, as did the bus. This brought traffic on the bus’s lane to a halt.
The Mercedes driver stepped out of his car amid moving traffic, gesturing for the bus driver to alight as well.

He appeared to take photos of the collision before walking over to the bus, knocking on its windshield, and gesturing for the driver to alight.

Netizens question driver’s actions
The video sparked outrage and confusion among netizens.
One commenter questioned the driver’s rationale for braking twice after cutting into the bus’s lane, speculating it could be an attempt at insurance fraud.

Another netizen theorised that the bus may have honked at the Mercedes, triggering the driver’s erratic behaviour.

One also criticised the driver for his apparent disregard for road safety, pointing out that the sudden braking could have caused a serious chain collision on the TPE.
