Volunteer Group Happy People Helping People Gives Back To The Old Folks
Christmas is a season of giving and some volunteers from Facebook group Happy People Helping People did right by that spirit by organising an open-air bus tour through Christmas light-lit Orchard Road and a free meal for 105 elderly folks.
The event was called X-Mas Lights Cruising 2019 and you can view the pictures taken on the day here.
Elderly folks could choose when to join the tour
The tour started in the day. The folks were brought through some parts of Chinatown. Not many lights in the area but the weather ought to have been terrific enough for an enjoyable bus ride nonetheless.
Later at night, when Orchard finally lit up with festive lights and a jolly spirit, the tour bus weaved into the busy lanes and passengers a nice view of the decorations.
For the cheekier passengers, they were given hairband with lights to wear on their heads. It all adds to the joyous, lively mood.
Some folks decided to sit a level below inside. It does get a bit chilly outside during the evening and night, and especially if the wind is blowing at you as the bus moves.
Sponsored lunch for all
More than just a bus ride tour through the decorated parts of town, lunch was also provided. The elderly folks were given vouchers by a sponsor and who doesn’t love a hearty meal with good company?
The night ended off with a short sit-down at Orchard and of course, to capture the memory, a group photograph.
Kudos to Happy People Helping People community as well as the sponsors for the bus ride and meal that made this event possible. Everyone deserves to be part of the festive celebration.
