Car in Japan fleeing police crashes and gets launched into air
On the evening of 20 Jan, a car fleeing police in Japan tried to squeeze through traffic only to end up colliding with another vehicle in a dramatic crash that launched the car into the air.
According to FNN, the accident occurred just after 6pm in Suginami ward in Tokyo.
Car flips while fleeing arrest
Dashcam footage reveals a high-speed chase, with the car in question speeding along the rightmost lane, overtaking the cam vehicle.
The driver, trying to weave between a parked van and the cam vehicle, misjudged the manoeuvre and ended up rear-ending the cam vehicle.

The collision caused the speeding car to flip over, sliding across the road before smashing into a sign.

Miraculously, the two men inside the car crawled out and fled on foot, leaving the wreckage behind.
The driver who was rear-ended suffered minor injuries.

Police are currently searching for the pair of individuals who had fled.
Accident gets tied to anti-foreigner sentiment
The incident has sparked a wave of anti-foreigner sentiment, after the injured driver reportedly stated that the two men who fled appeared to be foreigners.
The crash quickly became a focal point for online discussions, with some users calling for stricter immigration controls in Japan.
One X post, which has garnered over 5.4 million views, said that Japan should just stop accepting foreigners.
