Body of Chinese man allegedly dumped in Cambodian reservoir weighed with cement blocks

A man from China is suspected to have been kidnapped, killed, and then dumped in a Cambodian reservoir with cement blocks to weigh his body down.

According to Sin Chew Daily, someone had also tied the 30-year-old’s hands and feet.

Wife reported man missing

His Cambodian wife said the man left home at 10pm on 29 Oct, saying he’s planning to visit relatives in a nearby neighbourhood.

He then parted ways with his relatives at around 1am, a couple of hours later. However, since then, she hasn’t been able to get in touch with her husband.

Fearing the worst, she quickly notified police about her missing husband.

Police find victim’s car abandoned with plates removed

After an initial investigation, police found the man’s vehicle on 31 Oct. It had been abandoned at a nearby residential area with its license plates removed.

Checking security camera footage, police found that at 1.20am the previous day (30 Oct), the victim’s car arrived at the scene along with another car.

The men who had driven the two cars to the scene then left the victim’s car behind and drove away.

Witnesses find body in reservoir

The next morning (1 Nov), locals spotted the victim’s body floating in a reservoir. They then reported it to the police, who were able to confirm that the body belonged to the missing man from China.

The body had also been weighed down by two cement blocks tied to his body, each weighing 20kg.

Police are currently investigating the case on the assumption that the man had been murdered.
