GYMMBOXX Bishan To Reopen On 1 Mar After Thorough Disinfection

GYMMBOXX was quick to react when news of a member at its Bishan branch testing positive for Covid-19 first broke.

Management informed all members in a public Facebook announcement, and immediately closed the outlet for disinfection.

Now they’re set to reopen on Sunday (1 Feb), which will safely surpass the virus’ 14-day incubation period.

GYMMBOXX Bishan undergoes disinfection

Following the announcement last Sunday (23 Feb), GYMMBOXX engaged “an NEA-appointed agent” to disinfect the Bishan premises.

Officials from the National Environment Agency (NEA) were also present for the procedure yesterday (24 Feb) to ensure that everything went smoothly.

The agents cleaned every surface with care, so returning members can use all the equipment without having to worry.

Members should also note that the reopening date on 1 Mar is way past the 14-day incubation period since the patients’ last visit to the gym on 6 Feb, so there shouldn’t be any fear of infection.

Staff take voluntary leave of absence

Though staff who were not in close contact with the patient do not have to self-quarantine, GYMBOXX has taken the initiative to implement a “voluntary” leave of absence (LOA) for all employees at the Bishan outlet.

According to the update on Facebook yesterday (24 Feb), GYMMBOXX will monitor these employees’ health till their LOA ends.

Their voluntary LOA is due to end on Saturday (29 Feb), according to a follow-up email to members which you can read here.

Premises & equipment safe for use once outlet reopens

Seeing that GYMMBOXX is taking careful measures to maintain the hygiene of their Bishan outlet and all equipment there, regular members at the branch need not worry.

Everything should be safe for use by the time the gym reopens on 1 Mar, so don’t ditch your workout routines.

GYMMBOXX will also be extending membership for another 2 weeks in light of the disruption, so there’s no reason for you to stop working out.

Let’s do our best to take care of our health, be it through proper hygiene, diet or exercise.
