Ex-Workers’ Party chief Low Thia Khiang dismisses rumours about contesting next general election

Former Workers’ Party (WP) chief Low Thia Khiang has confirmed that he will not be contesting the general election.

Mr Low was responding to a member of the public who claimed he heard rumours that the retired politician would be making a comeback.

Resident asks Low Thia Khiang if he’s contesting next general election

Mr Low was posed the question during a WP outreach program while distributing the party’s newletter, Hammers.

At some point during the outreach, a resident in yellow came forward and asked:

Are you retired or are you contesting again?

The resident claimed he had heard rumours about Mr Low “coming somewhere” during the upcoming general election.

He did not specify the origins of the rumours or where Mr Low was rumoured to be contesting.

Mr Low was straightforward with his dismissal, claiming the rumours were “not true”.

“I’m not participating in the election,” said the 68-year-old.
