Mediacorp to screen 28 FIFA World Cup 2026 matches for free, including both semi-finals and final

Mediacorp has announced that it will be screening 28 FIFA World Cup 2026 matches live on free-to-air platforms, after securing exclusive broadcasting rights to the tournament.

According to CNA, all 104 tournament matches and official ceremonies will also be available on mewatch, Mediacorp’s digital streaming platform, as well as carriage partner platforms.

Aside from the men’s World Cup, the broadcasting rights also include matches and ceremonies of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, as well as other youth age-group tournaments until 2028.

These include the FIFA U-17 World Cup, FIFA U-20 World Cup, FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Increase in free-to-air games broadcast

Free coverage of matches on mewatch and Channel 5 sees an increase to 28, up from the nine matches at the 2022 World Cup.

The free-to-air matches include 24 group-stage matches, both semi-finals and the final.

Details on prices and subscription plans are yet to be released.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and will take place from 11 June to 19 July.

After the expansion, the tournament now sees 48 participating nations, up from 32 in previous editions.

The number of games played will also see an increase, from 64 to 104, over a span of 39 days.

At this year’s tournament, Argentina will be defending the crown after beating France in the 2022 World Cup final.
