Can you see those pitchforks? Society is on a witch hunt again.
Recently, an old tumblr photo by#redefiningrealness about a Singaporean girl and her multitude of identities resurfaced and went viral — again.
After some snooping, we found the actual post dated 29 April 2014, published by redefiningrealness.

Here’s what the post states:
I’m ‘star (it’s a nickname).  I am demiromantic, pansexual, genderfluid, Singaporean Chinese, disabled – and proud.
I’m nothing, if not proud.
My story about redefining realness is still ongoing, and I hope that it continues as I fight my mental health issues. I may even win one day.
I’m 16, but it isn’t really sweet. I want to get out and be free of my family. I’m a young void, and a shock-wave of rage if you ever move to hurt my friends.
Don’t ever touch my friends.
I’m more burnt out than anything else; more than a little disenchanted. My story is that I moved to the UK, seeking an education and finding nothing but sub-par teachings and racism. My story is about me accepting my sexuality, my gender, and my romantic orientation. It’s about me getting over my internalized ableism and trying to embrace myself as worth something. It’s about me getting up and battling — and not just for myself this time. It’s about me trying to live, and possibly help others do so too, if that’s even in my capacity.
I am ‘star.
I am cantankerous, a warrior, vibrant, a daydreamer, and alive.
I Am #RedefiningRealness.
She is so deep that we can’t even…
Honestly, some netizens have seriously no clue to what is happening.

What exactly does the post mean?
Well, we can’t quite wrap our heads around what ‘star is trying to express.
So let’s just break down those words for you.
Demiromantic refers to someone who has to form an emotional connection before getting attracted to a person.
Which is basically most people.
Pansexual refers to people who love all sexualities — traditional male and female, bi-sexual, transgender, and genderfluid.
Lastly, genderfluid refers to those who identify as a dynamic mix of male and female.
The tumblr post expresses this 16 — currently 18 — year old’s individuality and fluid identity, and her pride.
Netizens Comments: the Good, the bad and the ugly
We can’t expect much good comments, as according to a whopping majority of netizens, she appears pompous, attention-seeking, and over the top.
And seriously, blue lipstick?
Let’s start with the good comments.
This netizen comes to the poor girl’s defence, saying everyone has gone through that phase of life

This guy sort of sympathises with her, saying he was lucky there wasn’t internet before

While, this person seems to be really diplomatic about the situation and telling people to lay off  ‘star.

Now, off to the snarky comments:
Some people reacted with indignation as they think that she is trying to prove that she’s special and better than others.

Others just made a joke out of it.

That sarcasm tho.

Looks like her post gave this guy cancer.

The ugly
This guy clearly went all out to insult her, while the other netizen dealt a low blow by picking on her disability.

Boy, look at the amount of points for these sarcastic comments.

TL;DR
Amazing how a “simple” post can go viral, with so many hate comments. Thus, from the content she posted, she kinda had it coming.
However,  these comments are merely fuelling the flames and feeding her “proud” ego.
Moral of the story? Don’t post stupid stuff on the internet.
