Several Roads Near Marina Bay To Close For NDP Rehearsal On 18 Jun
2022 must’ve felt like a whirlwind of events for Singaporeans, especially due to the ever-changing Covid-19 situation. Before we realised it, August, as well as our annual National Day celebrations, are now just around the corner.
NDP 2022 Will See Marina Bay Platform Seats Filled After 2 Years Of Smaller Celebrations
To better prepare participants and organisers for the National Day Parade (NDP), several rehearsals will be held leading up to the actual event.
One such rehearsal is happening this Saturday (18 Jun) at The Float @ Marina Bay, resulting in the closure of several roads in the area.
In light of the closures, drivers are advised to plan their routes early and avoid the affected roads.
Several roads near Marina Bay to close for NDP rehearsal from 7.30am
On Wednesday (15 Jun), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) issued a press release informing the public about the road closures as part of the NDP Combined Component Rehearsal 4 this Saturday (18 Jun).
The road closure will affect certain lanes and in some cases, even entire roads in the Marina Bay area.
Most of the road closures will commence at 7.30am but will end at either 12pm or 5pm. Here are the roads and lanes in question, as well as the timings to take note of:
Throughout the period of the closure, only authorised vehicles including police and emergency vehicles can access the roads.
Auxiliary police officers and SAF marshals will be deployed at the respective junctions to guide motorists.
Best to take public transport to travel to Marina Bay area
In light of the closures, motorists can expect traffic delays along:
- Bayfront Avenue
- Raffles Avenue
- Republic Boulevard
- Temasek Avenue
The police also advised members of the public to take public transport to the Marina Bay area.
Should they still want to commute via private transportation, they must plan their routes early to avoid the affected roads.
In particular, motorists visiting Suntec City or Marina Square will have to use alternative routes via Nicoll Highway or Ophir Road, rather than Raffles Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, and Bayfront Avenue.
Take note of affected roads
As NDP 2022 draws closer, rehearsals like these are expected, especially since this year’s celebrations are slated to be larger than those held throughout the pandemic.
If you happen to be travelling to the Marina Bay area this Saturday (18 Jun), be sure to take note of the road closures and factor in additional travelling time if necessary.
