Woman throws hot soup at ex-boyfriend in Geylang coffee shop, also stole from Jewel Changi Airport
A 48-year-old woman, Su Zhihui (transliterated from Mandarin), has been sentenced to slightly over nine weeks in jail after an argument with her ex-boyfriend led to her throwing hot soup and food at him in a Geylang coffee shop.
The incident occurred on 16 Sept, when Su messaged her 41-year-old ex-boyfriend at 4pm to arrange a meeting.
He arrived at the coffee shop in Lorong 23 at around 6.20pm and ordered a meal, according to Shin Min Daily News.
Ten minutes later, Su joined him at the table with a meal of dry noodles, hot soup, and side dishes.
He had almost finished eating by then.

At about 7pm, Su became enraged and threw her chopsticks at the man’s chest.Â
He then moved away from her and called the police for assistance.
Not letting up, she flung her noodles at him, narrowly missing
She then picked up the bowl of soup, approached him, and splashed the hot liquid on his abdomen.
Not stopping there, Su also tossed a side dish at him, which missed, before leaving the coffee shop.
A noodle stall employee said the two had been sitting at the furthest table in the outer area of the coffee shop, and appeared to have started quarrelling before Su got her food.
Following the incident, food and utensils were scattered on the ground, though no other customers were affected.
Defendant also stole from Jewel Changi Airport
In the end, Su pleaded guilty in court to criminal violence and an additional charge for theft.
On 23 Sept, she reportedly stole items worth S$3,445 from a closed leather goods store at Jewel Changi Airport.
She had taken a small suitcase containing numerous items.
Later that morning, she took clothes and bags valued at S$470.30 from another shop in the airport.
She then trespassed into another area of the airport with the intent to harrass a manager.
The police later arrested her after reviewing CCTV footage, recovering items worth S$3,037 from her dormitory.
She claimed to have stolen the goods as she was short on money.
Due to this, the court took her two counts of theft and trespassing into consideration for sentencing.
On 28 Oct, Su was sentenced to nine weeks and three days in jail for her offences.
