On Saturday evening (16 Nov), a 21-year-old man named Xu Moujin went on a stabbing spree at the Wuxi Institute of Technology in Yixing, Jiangsu, China.

One person even took to social media to warn people regarding the mass killing, saying, “My roommate was stabbed. That person stabbed people when he saw them. Don’t go out.”

Meanwhile, some students locked themselves in a room and put furniture against the door to prevent the assailant from coming in.

Several police cars and ambulances were then seen rushing to the crime scene.

In one of the videos circulating social media, a policeman is seen jumping on Xu to restrain him.

Xu was then arrested on the spot and confessed to his crimes.

Man was unable to get diploma after failing exam

According to the police report, Xu was part of the school’s graduating class of 2024, but the school did not issue him a diploma due to failing an exam.

For this reason, he returned to the school to vent his anger.

Additionally, Xu reportedly posted a suicide note online earlier that day revealing that the factory where he worked did not give him fair wages and refused to provide insurance.

He wrote:

The workers in the factory work two or three shifts every day, working 16 hours a day, without a day off in a month. I took a few days off due to illness, but the department manager said that others with high fevers and nosebleeds can work, so why can’t you? If you can’t do it, get out.

“I hope my death can promote the advancement of labour laws,” Xu also expressed in the letter, which implies that he had planned to kill himself after committing the crime.
