Bird feasts on food at Singapore mixed rice stall

A bird took advantage of what appeared to be an unattended mixed rice stall in Singapore, feasting on the food displayed on a tray.

A customer captured the scene and shared it on TikTok, where the video has garnered over 136,000 times at the time of writing.

The OP, Shui, told MS News that he was enjoying his meal at the mixed rice stall on Monday (14 Oct) when he spotted the mynah.

In the clip, the bird is seen standing behind the glass partition of the stall, pecking away at the food.

The 39-year-old, who works as a manager at a Japanese restaurant, said this was the third time he had seen the bird feasting on the food.

He had alerted staff at the stall the first time he saw the bird, prompting them to scare away the avian. However, the stand remained unattended, allowing the daring bird to return two additional times for more food.

According to Shui, despite the bird’s repeated visits, the staff did not clear the affected tray of food.

In response to MS News‘ queries, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said it is investigating the incident.

Netizens joke about food hygiene

Many netizens cracked jokes at the absurd sight. One commenter said if the bird doesn’t suffer diarrhoea or dies, then the food is clean.

Meanwhile, one commenter noted that it can be a coin flip to eat outside when it comes to food cleanliness.

As for Shui, he said he’s willing to return to the stall as long as it fixes the bird issue since it’s close to where he lives.
