A young boy was recently trapped in a small stream at a village in Guizhou province, China.

Fortunately, tourists present at the time worked together to save the boy, preventing a potentially tragic accident.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the stream where the accident occurred was blocked by a large rock, with water rushing through a crevice beneath the boulder.

Last Sunday (24 Aug), a boy became trapped in the boulder crevice while playing, with just his head barely above the water.

With heavy rain approaching, tourists onsite feared the rising stream would submerge the boy. They quickly joined forces and managed to pull him to safety after about 20 minutes.

Videos circulating online show the trapped boy being constantly battered by the stream, with only his head above water.

Several tourists even formed a human ‘barrier’ at the crevice to slow the flow of the stream.

At the same time, someone brought a rope for the boy to grab, hoping he could pull himself out of the crevice, but that attempt proved unsuccessful.

Later, a male tourist wearing shorts straddled the crevice, bent over, and grabbed the boy, finally pulling him out.

A female tourist at the scene, Ms Che (surname transliterated from Chinese), witnessed the entire rescue attempt.

After bringing the boy to shore, she asked the boy if he was scared. The rescued boy bravely replied:

I’m not scared.
