2 ABC Sauce Products Recalled For Not Declaring Allergens
The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has recalled three products, including two ABC sauce products, as they contain undeclared allergens.
According to Channel NewsAsia (CNA), SFA said they detected sulphur dioxide in the two ABC products, which were imported from Indonesia.

A batch of Fukutoku Seika Soft Cream Wafers was also recalled for containing undeclared egg white and wheat flour allergens.
Two ABC sauce products recalled due to undeclared allergens
The affected products are:
- ABC Sweet Soy Sauce (26 Jun 2024 expiry date) – imported by New Intention Trading
- ABC Sambal Ayam Goreng Sauce (6 Jan 2024 expiry date) – imported by Arklife Distributors
- Fukutoku Seika Soft Cream Wafers (20 Apr 2023 expiry date) – imported by Sinhua Hock Kee Trading
The sweet soy sauce is also commonly known as kecap manis.
SFA also detected benzoic acid in the ayam goreng sauce, which wasn’t declared on the food packaging labels.
Undeclared allergens will affect those with allergies
While the levels of undeclared allergens found in the products are within the limit permitted, SFA stressed the need to declare allergens as they can cause allergic reactions in individuals.
Even though sulphur dioxide, egg white, and wheat flour allergens do not pose a food safety issue to most consumers, those with allergies will be adversely affected.
SFA also noted that all ingredients should also be declared on the product label in descending order of the proportions by weight.
Consumers can contact their point of purchase for enquiries as recalls are currently ongoing.
