Coveted 1,500 Bishan BTO Flats By 2025 For Patient Couples
Couples in line for Bishan BTO flats would recall the mad rush to attain coveted Bidadari units when the launch occurred.
The central location and sustainable ‘town-of-the-future’ and ‘next-Bishan’ marketing resonated with many millennials and flats were gone in a flash.
Those who came away disappointed, however, shouldn’t give up hope just yet.
The Straits Times reported on Tuesday (22 Oct), that HDB will be opening up 1,500 BTO slots in ever-popular Bishan, by 2025. This is the first time Bishan will have brand new BTO flats built, since 2006.
Well, if marriage aren’t on the cards in the next 4 years or so, but you’d like to plan ahead with bae, here is what’s in store for Bishan’s upcoming BTO release.
1,500 Bishan BTO units by 2025
Old boys of St. Joseph Institution will probably be familiar with the grounds where their school campus stood till 2015.
That prime piece of land along the Kallang River, sandwiched between the MOE Language Centre and Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School, will be transformed into a brand new housing estate for 1,500 new HDB units, come 2025.
A sneak peek on Google Street View shows construction underway along Bishan Street 14, at the same site back in 2018.
5-min walk from Bishan MRT
Potential residents will enjoy a mere 5-min walk to Bishan MRT – touted as Singapore’s most connected train station – an interchange which connects the North-South (Red) and Circle (Yellow) Line.
Other areas within 10 mins of driving, or via public transport include:
- Orchard MRT (10 min)
- Central Business District (15 min)
- Braddell (10 min)
- Bukit Timah (7 min)
- Marymount (10 min)
- Upper Thomson (10 min)
- PIE / CTE (10 min)
Junction 8, AMK Hub & NEX around the corner
New Bishan BTO residents will also enjoy a closely packed cluster of retail options around the area.
There’s student haven Junction 8, boasting 170 retail and F&B outlets, and a Golden Village cinema — just try to avoid the cafes during post-school hours.
For those searching for household amenities, or fresh fruit & wet markets, head over to Ang Mo Kio Hub for a large NTUC, yet another mall and Cathay Cineplex.
A short drive or bus ride will also take you directly to NEX in Serangoon and Thomson Plaza for great Japanese food options, if you want to switch things up.
Spot otters at Bishan-AMK park & bike along Kallang river
Unlocking new fitspo goals together will be a great way to bond with your significant others, and relieve the stressful demands of the day.
There are tons of activities to consider, most of all, otter-spotting at the massive Bishan-Ang Mo Kio park (10-min walk).
Technically, the Bishan family of otters will be your new neighbours, so you should definitely pay them a visit once you’re settled in.
Cycling along the Kallang River to town via upcoming park connectors will no longer be a pipe dream in the near future.
Picturesque views of the water basin will even accompany you all the way downtown, once a revamp is completed.
Community gym, courts & swimming complex next door
You won’t have to invest in a condo either, just to get access to a gym or swimming pool.
Racket sports & dance studios facilities are within walking distance too, thanks to a trio of sports hubs next door.
Simply by taking a leisurely stroll, you’ll be able to access:
- Bishan ActiveSG Stadium (5 min)
- Bishan Active SG Swimming Complex (5 min)
- Bishan Sports & Recreation Centre (7 min)
Sandwiched between 6 great schools
Starting a family is no easy feat, parenting costs in Singapore estimated at a million dollars. But at least there’ll be one less thing to worry about for your child, if you move into your dream Bishan unit.
School options in the district look quite promising, by walking distance alone:
- Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Primary School (6 min)
- Townsville Primary School (20 min)
- Guangyang Primary School (13 min)
- Guangyang Secondary School (15 min)
- Kuo Chuan Presbyterian Secondary School (4 min)
- Catholic High School (13 min)
The time taken to ferry your child to school, will be further halved if you own a car.
Great BTO choice if you can afford the wait
Couples who aren’t in a hurry to settle down, and are game to try their luck should stay tuned for more details about the upcoming project on HDB’s website.
These coveted flat prices, however, are expected to be higher due to the prime central location and perceived ‘desirability’ of the district, amenities, and resale potential.
The next major BTO launch is right around the corner, come November. The massive venture will feature units from Tengah, Ang Mo Kio and Tampines units. We’ve written extensively about these upcoming estates here.
Let us know if you think this Bishan launch will be worth the wait, in the comments below.
