Chinese uncle visits school to sign Indian neighbour’s son’s report card in Malaysia
While many of us get along with neighbours of different races, forming deeper friendships can still feel awkward, especially when navigating cultural differences.
In Malaysia, however, a Chinese uncle recently touched netizens’ hearts by going to his Indian neighbour’s son’s school to sign the boy’s report card.
A photo of the heartwarming moment was shared on Threads on Wednesday (17 Dec), and has since garnered over 26,000 likes at the time of writing.
Uncle even offers to pay PTA fees
According to the original poster (OP), the photo was especially meaningful because it showed the uncle willingly taking time out of his day to attend a school matter for his neighbour’s child.

She shared that it had never crossed her mind to do the same for a neighbour, let alone one of a different race.
During the meeting, the teacher reportedly brought up the boy’s annual Parent Teacher Association (PTA) fees, which the OP felt was an awkward moment.
However, the uncle offered to pay for it without hesitation.
The teacher then suggested that he could simply inform the parents later, to which the uncle responded with a laugh, brushing it off as no big deal.
Deeply moved by the gesture, the OP thanked the uncle in her post, saying she had learnt a valuable lesson that day.
“He has proven that Malaysians are people who live with love and peace,” she wrote.
Netizens moved by quiet act of kindness
Many netizens were moved by the uncle’s actions and left well-wishes for him in the comments.
One commenter pointed out that his actions went beyond a neighbourly favour, highlighting that he was actively supporting the education of someone “dear to him”.
