Ministry Of Defence Postpones In-Camp Training & IPPT Until 30 Apr, Amid Covid-19 Safe Distancing
The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) announced today (31 Mar) that with immediate effect, all non-essential In-Camp Training (ICT) and Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT) will be postponed.
For those not in the know or who haven’t been to NS, ICT is the reservist that males who’ve completed full-time NS have to go for yearly.
Training groups will be smaller as well, to safeguard the health of servicemen.
All fitness centres closed, IPPTs waived
Fitness Conditioning Centres (FCCs) will be closed. As a result, there will be no IPPTs held.
There will also be no IPPT Preparatory Training (IPT) or Remedial Training (RT), and IPPT requirements are waived for NSmen who had to take them.
For the fit ones, that means less money, but for those who need to train more to pass, you can now breathe a sigh of relief.
All new measures in place until 30 Apr
MINDEF stated that all measures mentioned will take effect immediately, until 30 Apr.
If you were called up for ICT during this period, that might be postponed depending on your unit. IPPT, IPT and RT are also postponed.
Only essential operations will continue. These include island defence, key installations’ protection, maritime security, and air defence operations.
If you’re an NSman and your unit is in charge of any of these operations, you will still have ICT, so do check in with your unit to be sure.
