Wild elephant carcass found in river after severe floods in Malaysia
A fisherman was shocked to discover the carcass of a wild elephant floating in the Pahang River in Malaysia on Sunday (1 Dec).
Azman Yusof, 54, was casting a fishing net in the river around 6pm when he noticed a large object floating in the water.
Initially assuming it was a piece of driftwood, he got closer and was surprised to discover it was the carcass of an elephant.

In a 16-second video, the boat approaches the large black figure stuck in the murky water.
As it gets closer, it becomes clear that the animal is an elephant lying on its side, with one side of its face barely above water.
The body was wedged against a rotting log and covered in mud and sand, yet still intact, Mr Yusof explained.

He suspects the elephant might have accidentally slipped into the river and was swept away by the strong current, eventually drowning.
Mr Yusof told New Straits Times that he left the carcass in the river due to the large amount of driftwood floating.
However, a Sin Chew Daily report states that he freed the animal’s remains, which then drifted downstream.
