His name is Yahya, and he makes sick remixes of Singaporean things

Remember the General Election in 2011, the one where Returning Officer Yam Ah Mee turned into a national hero?

Some guy turned that dour, expressionless demeanour into a pretty decent sounding EDM song.

He’s FallenSuperHeroSG and his latest video, a remix of every day sounds on the MRT, caught my attention again.

The track was originally teased with a tweet dated 10 May 2015.

Attention please, please give way to alighting passengers before boarding – CHECK.

That “beep-beep-beep-beep-beep” before the train doors close – CHECK.

Next station: Clarke Quay – CHECK.

This turned me into an official fan girl. Moarrr please.

So a casual click on his channel turned out to be the best discovery of my day: a brilliant treasure cove of all kinds of remixes (from local icons to international pop songs), and even his own original tracks.

I then decided to shine the spotlight onto some of his best videos, for your enjoyment:

This EDM remix of ‘Unbelievable’ by Chen Tianwen NEEDS to be played at Pasar Malams and/or sung at Getai stages in July. I seriously can’t think of a more perfect track.

I promise this Frozen remix isn’t going to make you want to punch a wall. Give it a shot and it might just be on replay for the next 24 hours.

This is Singapore’s very own Bed Intruder Song, and my personal favourite:

What’s next?

FallenSuperheroSG has already started on his next project, which features the humble traffic light.

I’m so stoked, you have no idea.

With that, I’d like to end off with the #throwback we’ve all been waiting for, the original Yam Ah Mee Election Club Mix:
