Two coffee shops in Jurong West will launch S$1 breakfast sets for low-income residents in the area
While many businesses are grappling with rising costs and price increases, some are taking proactive steps to support disadvantaged members of the community.
Starting 1 Aug, two coffee shops in Jurong West will offer S$1 breakfast sets to eligible low-income residents.
This initiative was announced by Mr Ang Wei Neng, Member of Parliament (MP) for West Coast GRC’s Nanyang division, at a district event on Sunday (28 July).

300 coupons will be issued each month
According to Shin Min Daily News, the participating coffee shops are Best Coffee Pte Ltd, located at 959 Jurong West Street 91, and Eating House 815 at 815 Jurong West Street 81.
In collaboration with the Nanyang Citizens’ Consultative Committees, they will serve breakfast sets at S$1 from 9am to 11am.
Each breakfast set comprises two slices of toast and a beverage, and can be redeemed with a coupon.

300 coupons will be issued each month in the initial stages.
Residents holding a blue Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) card can apply for up to five coupons per month through their MP or a community club.
Mr Ang explained that this limit is designed to maximise the initiative’s reach.
Should the programme prove popular, there may be opportunities for expansion or extension.
The S$1 breakfast sets will be available from August through December this year.
Coffee shop owners eager to help
The owners of both coffee shops are more than happy to lend their support.
Ms Lin Xiu Zhu, the owner of Best Coffee Pte Ltd, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative as soon as it was proposed by Mr Ang as she believes strongly in the importance of giving back to society.
Similarly, Mr Chen Chuanshan, the owner of Eating House 815, is committed to helping those struggling with inflation and the rising cost of living.
The breakfast sets are typically priced at S$3.20 at Best Coffee Pte Ltd and S$3.50 at Eating House 815.
