Elderly man with dementia reunited with wife after she spots him on TV
A 91-year-old man with dementia in the United States (US) was recently reunited with his wife after she spotted him in the background of a news programme on TV.

The man, Michael Black, had been missing from his home in Afton, Wyoming for two days before he was found.
Hitchhiked across state lines before getting picked up by rescue shelter
Mr Black left home on 25 Nov and did not return, prompting his wife, Avril, to report him missing the following morning.
Following the report, police received multiple tips regarding his whereabouts.
It appeared Mr Black had hitchhiked from Wyoming into Idaho and then on to Salt Lake City, Utah, more than 300km away.
However, the tips eventually stopped, and despite the efforts, Mr Black had still not been located.
While sitting at a bus station, a missionary spotted him and contacted a local rescue organisation.

Although the shelter was normally closed at that time, they agreed to take him in and provided him with warm clothes, a blanket, and food.
Wife spots him on TV programme
On 27 Nov, a local news crew visited the shelter to cover the distribution of meals to over 3,500 people in Utah for Thanksgiving.
That evening, as Mrs Black tuned in to the news, she was stunned to spot her husband in the background.
“I’m sure I saw Michael,” she said.
She rewound the broadcast, paused it for a closer look, and confirmed her suspicions.

In disbelief but relieved, she snapped a picture of the TV screen.
After days of worry, she was finally able to sleep soundly, knowing her husband was safe.
Thanks to a bit of Thanksgiving magic, authorities soon shared information, confirming that the elderly man at the rescue centre was indeed Mr Black.
Mrs Black quickly made her way to Salt Lake City to bring her husband home.
She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the police, the missionary who had spotted Michael, and the rescue shelter that had cared for him.
“The police have been wonderful to us,” she said. “And the rescue home, they gave him warm clothes and a blanket and really took care of him.”
