Malaysian Lady Was Walking Along PIE Road Shoulder
Mr Masz Masuri was driving along the PIE on Tuesday (13 Nov) night when he spotted a lady walking along the road shoulder after Eunos Link.
Concerned, he stopped his car and attended to the seemingly lost lady.
According to Mr Masuri’s Facebook post, the lady identified herself as Mdm Zainun. She comes from Pahang, Malaysia, and had travelled to Singapore with just $20 left to spare.
It wasn’t clear how Mdm Zainun got to Singapore. If she had taken a bus from Pahang, the trip would have lasted about 9 and half hours.
Mr Masuri dropped her off at the Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centre, and told police about how he had picked her up.
Lady wanted to escape abusive family
With the help of the police, Mr Masuri managed to contact Mdm Zainun’s former employer Mr Chin.
The next day, Wednesday (14 Nov), Mr Chin took her back to Malaysia.
He explained to Mr Masuri that Mdm Zainun had returned to Singapore in hopes of finding work. She did so — and has supposedly done so a few times before — to get away from her abusive family in Malaysia.
Request for assistance
Mr Masuri urged anyone who knows Mdm Zainun to render her assistance — either personally or by contacting a social welfare authority.

Some readers may find Mr Masuri’s name familiar. That’s because just last month (24 Oct), he had stopped along the KPE tunnel to rescue an injured kitten. He later took the kitten into his care.

As for Mdm Zainun, hopefully, she will receive the help she needs — assuming of course that what she said about her family really is true.
