Catch Stunning Fireworks Displays For Free This NDP
Lighting up skylines, harbours, and the island, NDP fireworks never fail to draw every Singaporean out from the comfort of their flats.
Rain or shine, both the young and the old wait with anticipation each year to catch a glimpse of the impressive display.
10 minutes’ worth of fireworks will be available throughout the entire show. So technically, anytime is a good time to catch a glimpse.
Contrary to popular belief, it’s not necessary to pay a lot of money to gain access to the perfect vantage point for the show.
Here are the 7 best places you can watch the majestic fireworks display for free this National Day.
1. Waterfront Promenade

Here, you get a unhindered views of the sky and your perfect boomerang shot.
If you’re willing to brave the crowds, make sure to head there early to snag a spot.
You can even tuck into local cuisine from the Makansutra Gluttons Bay Hawker Centre as you wait for the show to begin.
2. Esplanade Bridge & Jubilee Bridge
Not only are these bridges an idyllic place for a leisurely night walk, it is also the ideal place for a vivid panoramic view of the fireworks display.
Connected to the Merlion Park, the bridges offer sweeping views of the bay.
If you intend to join the mass of bodies in watching pyrotechnics light up the night sky, it’s necessary to start camping at this spot early.
3. Merlion Park
Both locals and tourist flock to the Merlion Park to catch fireworks with the Merlion.
Situated at the perfect vantage point, it provides a close and clear view of fireworks every year, which is why it is THE most crowded spot every year.
4. The Promontory
Watching the fireworks display from this vantage point gives you one essential benefit — Marina Bay Sands (MBS) will cameo as your backdrop.
Yet another reason why this location fills up fast as well. Fireworks enthusiasts are encouraged to head there around 5PM to chope a spot.
5. Helix Bridge & Benjamin Sheares Bridge
Moving closer to the heart of the action, the Helix Bridge and Benjamin Sheares Bridge are located right next to the floating platform.
They are two of the best options for an unobstructed view of the fireworks.
We’re sure you’ll enjoy the views of the Singapore River that’s tranquil and slow-moving, as you crowd along an iconic bridge that’s bustling with life.
6. Gardens by the Bay – East Garden
For a quieter experience, settle among the lush greenery of Bay East Garden for a superb view of the show.
The place offers a stunning view of the city skyline.
A downside, however, is that it’s not as accessible as other venues – only accessible by car, bus (no. 400), bicycle or a 20-mins walk from the Promenade station.
But we’re sure that the extra hike will be worth that money shot for Insta.
7. Marina Barrage
A stone’s throw away from the bay area, Marina Barrage’s spacious rooftop is perfect for unwinding as you wait for the dazzling display of fireworks.
Prepared to be wowed by the celebrations in the sky once the sky goes down.
3 weeks away
Just because you don’t live the high-SES life 24/7, doesn’t mean you can’t get in on the action.
Here’s a useful naming guide too, if you were wondering what each kind of firework is called.
Witness the splendid display at the aforementioned locations as the city celebrates the new year. MS News wishes all our readers a very happy National Day indeed.
