NTU professors ranked by Thomson Reuters as the World’s Hottest Researchers 2015
Two professors from Nanyang Technological University — Professor David Lou and Professor Zhang Hua — were ranked by Thomson Reuters as the World’s Hottest Researchers 2015.
Yes, we couldn’t believe it too.
In case you are wondering who these hot professors are, NTU’s site helpfully hosts their photos.

Wait…
That wasn’t quite what we expected.
Then we found out what Thomson Reuters really means by “World’s Hottest Researchers”.
As it turns out, the global ranking recognises the best scientists who have published at least 14 papers in 2015 and high numbers of citations.
It has nothing to do with muscular men dancing in labcoats.

In all fairness, despite the survey’s misleading title, the results are still a reason to celebrate.
Professor David Lou and Professor Zhang Hua were ranked 8th and 12th respectively in the survey that was dominated by scientists from the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
The duo are also the only professors from Asia — definitely something to brag about.
