The employee was subsequently on medical leave and last reported to the office on 28 Feb.

The floor which the employee worked on has been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Common areas like lifts, corridors, and toilets have also undergone a similar process.

Information regarding the employee’s age and gender wasn’t disclosed. For now, it is not known whether they were among yesterday’s 6 announced cases.

Several employees told to work from home

According to the email, the bank is working together with relevant authorities to conduct contact tracing.

Employees who came into close contact with the patient were told to work from home, and their health is being closely monitored.

Ms Koh added that the bank is in touch with the infected employee to support them and their family as well.

Here’s the statement in full:

One of our colleagues has been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus. Our colleague fell ill a few days after the last day in the office on 28 Feb. Since then, the colleague has not been back in the office.

As a precautionary measure, staff who had close contact with the colleague is currently working from home. Thorough cleaning and disinfection of the office and the common areas have been completed. We are giving our colleague and our colleague’s family the best possible support. We wish our colleague a speedy recovery.

Hope the measures implemented will curb the spread

It’s good to know that OCBC has put in place precautionary measures to ensure the safety and health of other employees.

As with other companies who have reported positive cases in Singapore, we are positive that the bank will do its best in curbing the spread of the virus.

In the meantime, do practise good hygiene, and minimise social contact if you’re sick.
