No injuries reported from car fire at Bukit Batok carpark
A car was seen engulfed in flames at a carpark in Bukit Batok before the blaze was put out by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Photos and a video of the incident were posted in the Complaint Singapore Facebook group on Sunday (17 Nov).
SCDF seen putting out car fire in Bukit Batok
The images showed flames consuming the car’s bonnet and spreading to its roof.
An SCDF fire engine also arrived at the scene.
Soon, firefighters started spraying water at the car in an effort to put out the blaze.
This proved effective as the fire was fully extinguished in under a minute.
The car was eventually reduced to a burnt husk.
Car involved was a gold-coloured Honda
The netizen who posted the images of the fire later shared a photo of the car before the fire broke out.
It revealed that the car was a gold-coloured Honda.
After the inferno, its engine was totally wrecked, with melted components spilling out of the bonnet, according to another photo shared by the contributor.
Fire in Bukit Batok involved engine compartment of a parked car
In response to queries from MS News, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 12.30pm on Sunday (17 Nov).
The location was an open carpark of Block 239 Bukit Batok East Avenue 5.
The fire involved the engine compartment of a parked car, it added.
No injuries reported
The blaze was eventually extinguished using a water jet, SCDF said.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
