11-year-old son of Hong Kong actors likened to Lee Hsien Loong for eloquent TEDx speech
Jasper Chan, son of Hong Kong actors Jordan Chan and Cherrie Ying, gave a speech at the TEDxZizhuPark Annual Youth Conference in Shanghai, China on Saturday (26 Oct).

Despite being just 11 years old, he delivered his English speech so eloquently that netizens likened him to Singapore’s Senior Minister (SM) Lee Hsien Loong.
The video, posted on Sunday (27 Oct) on his fan page on Xiaohongshu, has since gained 18,300 likes.
Talked about embracing spotlight
In his speech titled “Embrace the Spotlight”, Jasper talked about his “extraordinary life” as the child of two famous celebrities in China.
He shared that he loved being in the spotlight until he understood that his every action was scrutinised.
While he gained opportunities where he learned different things, he longed to break free.
But rather than sticking with his identity as the “famous guy’s son”, Jasper realised he could turn the pressure into his motivation and urged the audience to do the same, saying:
Social media has a large impact on our life today… We’re exposed under the spotlight… but rather than letting judgment affect us negatively… we have to use this as a tool for self-improvement and motivation.
Netizens liken boy to SM Lee
Jasper delivered his speech confidently that some users likened the son of the Hong Kong actos to Singapore’s ex-Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
“The look, expression, tone, speed, and gestures are so similar,” another replied, adding that Jasper would be an excellent leader in the future.

However, one netizen also expressed that viewers shouldn’t push the child too hard as he is still young.
Meanwhile, the official TEDxZizhu account also commented on the video, thanking Jasper for the “great talk”.
