Boy promotes stall to ‘earn his own money to buy snacks’
Speaking to MS News, Ms A — the boy’s mother — said the ‘marketing campaign’ started as a playful suggestion for her six-year-old son Affan to help out at his grandmother’s stall.
The stall primarily sold nasi tomato, as well as other traditional dishes such as gado gado, kacang pool, and epok epok.

She noted that after finishing school at 5pm, a family member would ferry Affran to the stall. There, he would often ask to buy snacks from nearby shops.
“As this happened almost daily, we told him that it’s important not to spend unnecessarily and explained how we have to work hard to earn money,” said Ms A.
That was when her son agreed to help out at the stall so he could earn his own money for snacks.
Recognising his potential in public speaking, Ms A’s brother-in-law even set up a microphone and speaker set up for him to “call out” to passers-by.
Boy’s enthusiastic promotions boosted stall’s sales
Affan’s enthusiastic promotion paid off, successfully boosting the stall’s sales.
Ms A pointed out that the stall’s location is not ideal and does not receive much foot traffic as a result.
However, a couple of passers-by stopped and patronised the stall because of him. Some other customers even went down to support them because of her TikTok video.
