Challenger Offers Free ValueCard Membership To “NSMen” But It Appears To Be For NSFs
Challenger probably thought it had struck PR gold when it decided to offer a free 2-year ValueClub membership to NSmen. After all, this hawker did something similar and was the darling of the Internet.
In case you aren’t familiar, ValueClub is the tech retailer’s loyalty programme that offers discounts and rebates. The membership is worth $30.
But alas, Challenger’s staff failed to understand the difference between NSmen and NSFs:
- NSmen are Operationally Ready National Servicemen. They are servicemen who have completed their full-time NS and are serving their 10-year ORNS training cycle.
- NSFs on the other hand are full-time National Servicemen currently serving their full-time NS.
Offering the free membership to NSmen would cost Challenger a whole lot more money, since there are so many more NSmen than there are NSFs.
So it’s no surprise that in reality, Challenger intended to offer the free membership to just NSFs:
But they just don’t seem to get the difference.
Netizens react
Realising that they couldn’t benefit from the promotion, some NSmen slammed the retailer on Facebook.
Challenger’s social media team has yet to address the matter.
But I’m NSF liao
Good news for you if you are an NSF–you’re eligible for a 2-year ValueCard membership.
To redeem your reward, simply head to one of its stores with your 11B. Once there, sign up with an email address that has not been registered with ValueClub before.
