Drunk men allegedly vomit at Jurong East MRT station

Two men were allegedly seen vomiting at Jurong East MRT station before boarding a train with what appeared to be a bag containing vomit.

The incident was highlighted by Instagram account @sgfollowsall on 9 Feb, which reposted a video submitted by a follower.

According to the caption, the follower and her boyfriend witnessed the scene unfold at the busy MRT interchange.

Footage showed two men seated on the platform floor, with one hunched over and resting his head in his arms.

What appeared to be vomit could be seen on the ground nearby.

Shortly after, a train arrived and passengers were seen alighting and walking past the pair.

The man who had been hunched over later stood up and helped his companion to his feet.

As they prepared to board the train, the second man appeared unsteady and picked up a plastic bag that was reportedly filled with vomit before entering the carriage.

Netizens raise hygiene concerns

The video quickly drew reactions online, with many netizens expressing concern over hygiene and cleanliness on public transport.

One commenter said station staff should have been alerted, adding that the men were “dirtying” both the station and the train.

Another noted that being intoxicated was not an excuse for such behaviour, pointing out that toilets are available within MRT stations.

An Instagram user also questioned why bystanders chose to record the incident instead of offering assistance.

Meanwhile, another commenter expressed sympathy for the cleaners who might have had to deal with the aftermath, saying such behaviour makes others’ jobs more difficult.

Public drunkenness is an offence in Singapore and may result in fines or imprisonment, depending on the circumstances.
