Gamification marketing company Sqkii, which organised the hunt, broke the news in a Facebook post on Friday (8 Nov).

It said the three youths — Wee Kiat, Edward, and Erwin — found the gold coin in front of Block 208 New Upper Changi Road at 1.43am that morning.

After a thorough verification process, it was confirmed that Wee Kiat, with the help of Edward and Erwin, found the coin fair and square by using the hints given.

They are thus eligible for the S$500,000 prize.

More silver coins waiting to be found

For the uninitiated, Hunt The Mouse is a popular treasure-hunting game that’s free and open to all members of the public.

All that hunters need to do is find coins hidden all over Singapore based on clues posted on Sqkii’s social media and real-time map.

This year’s edition is already its fifth, with coins worth S$1 million available.

While there was only one gold coin, there are also 300 silver coins — 175 of them are worth S$2,500, while the rest are worth S$500.

Though its biggest prize has been taken, the hunt isn’t over yet, with Sqkii saying that there are still more silver coins waiting to be found.

Time is of the essence, though — the event will close either when all the coins are found, or at 11.59pm next Tuesday (12 Nov).
