“Severely Neglected” Maltese Dog Dies A Day After Being Abandoned
No parent would leave their child to fend for themselves, and the same should apply to pets too.
Yet on 31 May, a “severely neglected” Maltese dog was left abandoned in a basket outside a Toa Payoh pet store. Despite receiving veterinary care, the dog passed away the next day.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) took to Facebook yesterday (3 Jun) to appeal for information on the case.

SPCA post states that the dog’s appearance suggests that he has been “neglected for some time” prior to the abandonment.
They are currently offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the prosecution of the person responsible.
Information can be submitted through SPCA’s 24-hour hotline at 6287 5355 or via email at inspector@spca.org.sg.
Those found guilty of animal cruelty may face a jail term of up to 18 months, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.
Hope person responsible will be brought to justice
We are truly disturbed by the abhorrent act that led to the death of the Maltese.

No living creature deserves treatment like this and we hope justice will be served swiftly.
