Nestlé Banana Ice Cream Lets You Peel Your Banana & Eat It Too In Taiwan & M’sia

Nestlé Has Peelable Banana Ice Cream In Taiwan 7-Eleven & Malaysia

The insanely hot summer months have left many of us craving for cool desserts to beat the heat.

We’ve eaten banana sundaes, sundae splits topped with real banana, but what about an ice cream with a peel-able banana skin and a frozen ice cream core?

On Tuesday (30 Apr), a food blogger named Eden Lin X posted a picture of Nestle’s incredible Banana Wow popsicle.

This innovative twist to banana ice cream really had us hoping it will be available in Singapore too.

Banana-flavoured jelly peel

There are loads of banana flavoured ice creams in the supermarket. But for Banana Wow’s take on the flavour, you can literally peel off the banana skin from your popsicle.

Simply bite the top off the jelly peel to reveal the yummy ice cream centre.

Unlike a regular banana peel, the jelly is soft and edible. You might never dream of munching on banana peels in real-life, but we’re willing to give this version a chance.

Parents will be happy to know that it’s is free from artificial colouring, low in fat and low in sugar so it’s a relatively healthy treat for kids all-year round.

Available in Taiwan & Malaysia

Unfortunately, these peelable banana ice creams have yet to enter our island’s market but are sold in Malaysia and Taiwan.

Malaysia’s Matkool brand – a range of kids ice cream – have been selling these ice cream treats since 2011. However, we’re not sure if it’s still sold in stores.

According to Eden Lin X, a set of 8 banana popsicles cost 199 NT ($8.80 SGD) in Taiwan’s 7-Eleven outlets. That comes up to S$1.10 per stick.

Those who are taking a trip to JB or Taiwan should visit the nearest grocery store and bring some back for us.

We want to test whether the banana peel will save the ice cream from melting in the intense Singapore heat.
