Man allegedly knocks down elderly woman in Ang Mo Kio over parking dispute, leaves scene after saying ‘sorry’
A 77-year-old woman was allegedly knocked down by a neighbour following a parking dispute in Ang Mo Kio, prompting public outrage and a police investigation.
The incident took place at around 2.35pm on 12 Nov in a private residential area along Jalan Chengam towards Jalan Lanjut in Ang Mo Kio.
A video of the elderly woman being hit by a car went viral, sparking widespread criticism of the driver’s actions.
The woman’s son, He Guoxiong, a 53-year-old interior design director, told Shin Min Daily News that the driver was a neighbour who had repeatedly parked his car in front of his house despite being warned.
Neighbour’s persistent parking leads to altercation
Mr He mentioned that the neighbour had obstructed part of his driveway, blocking access to vehicles and even garbage trucks.
Despite contacting the Land Transport Authority (LTA), the neighbour continued to park in front of Mr He’s house, leading to escalating tensions.
The incident occurred shortly after the neighbour likely received the LTA notice regarding his parking.
According to Mr He, the neighbour may have struck his mother while attempting to move the car, possibly in frustration.

The driver only muttered a brief “sorry” before leaving the scene without checking on her condition.
Despite the incident, the neighbour continued to park in front of Mr He’s house, prompting the family to call the police.
The neighbour declined to comment when approached by Shin Min, stating that the police are investigating.
Police investigation underway
In response to MS News queries, the police confirmed the incident and said a 61-year-old male driver is assisting with investigations.
A 77-year-old female pedestrian was conveyed conscious to the hospital.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told MS News that she was sent to Woodlands Health Campus.
Mr He shared that after the fall, his mother suffered a scraped knee, as well as injuries to her back and head.
Doctors warned her of the risks of a concussion, and she was discharged after a day of observation.

History of parking dispute with neighbour
Mr He claimed that the neighbour has two cars and sufficient parking space. Hence, he doesn’t understand why they keep parking outside his home.
He said the neighbour insists on parking in front of his house, but would react angrily whenever Mr He parked near the neighbour’s home.
Mr He said previous parking disputes had led to physical altercations, with both sides eventually reporting to the police.
He expressed disbelief that, just days after those disputes, his mother was injured in this way.
He shared that his mother had previously been living in Choa Chu Kang, but moved to his place recently due to her declining health.
