Paya Lebar Church Member With Coronavirus Reportedly In Critical Condition
In light of the recent spike in coronavirus cases, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has noted that 5 of them have connections to a church in Paya Lebar.
While the pattern is worrying, the fact that 1 of the five is in critical condition seems even scarier. The church’s pastor apparently disclosed this information on Sunday (9 Feb), according to TODAY.
Reverend Vincent Choo from The Life Church and Missions on Paya Lebar Road made the announcement in a 2-hour service, which the church live-streamed on YouTube.
Paya Lebar church may contain Coronavirus cluster
MOH had disclosed in a statement on Saturday (8 Feb), that the church may be a possible cluster after tracing five cases back to it.
Cases 8 and 9, a couple from Wuhan, visited the church for the first time on 19 Jan, while cases 31, 33 and 38 are all members of the church.
Don’t blame the couple from Wuhan who visited
In his speech, Reverend Choo said that the coronavirus outbreak may be the church’s most difficult challenge to date.
Despite the situation, he encouraged members to stay positive and support the masses, especially hospital staff.
Most importantly, he appealed to all members to remain objective and not blame the Chinese couple who came to the church.
Church has temporarily suspended services
After Singapore announced the change in DORSCON level from yellow to orange, the church has suspended all services and meetings.
Let us hope that the situation can be contained ASAP so that we all can carry on with our normal lives again.
