Yishun Car Park Collapsed Pipe Was Resolved Within A Few Hours
The weather may have been warm and humid for most parts of Singapore on Saturday (23 Mar) evening.
But that certainly wasn’t the case in a Yishun car park, where a collapsed water pipe led to rain-like ‘weather’ for a few hours.
Several videos showing the ensuing flood and waterfall-like spray made rounds on social media.
Here’s one that was shared on the Facebook group All Singapore Stuff.
And here’s another that was submitted to The Straits Times.
Pipe fragment landed on a parked car
The overhead water pipe, which measured roughly 10 metres in length, broke into 2 fragments, each several metres long.
The smaller of the two pieces landed on a brown Nissan hatchback.
Following the collapse, water gushed out in a manner that bore resemblance to what goes on in a car wash.
The carpark’s floor was also flooded with a large pool of water.
Resolved in a few hours
The incident took place at the basement car park of the Yishun 10 Multiplex, which houses the Golden Village cinema.
Fortunately, no one was reportedly injured as a result of the collapse.
A spokeswoman from Yishun 10 Multiplex revealed that the pipe collapsed after a bolt-nut gave way. The incident has been resolved at 9.30pm.
She also took the chance to reassure those affected by the collapsed pipe that the building management will do their “utmost best to assist”.
Kudos to the management for their swift actions
We’ve reached out to the Yishun 10 Multiplex management for more information on the incident.
Kudos to the building management and others involved for their swift resolution to the incident.
Additionally, we’d like to extend our commiserations to the car owner whose vehicle was the victim of the collapsed pipe.
