PM Lee Urges Everyone To Only Go Out Alone & Not As A Group Or Family

PM Lee Urged Singaporeans Not To Head Out In Groups, Even With Family Members

On Tuesday (21 Apr), PM Lee announced a 4-week extension to the ‘Circuit Breaker’ which started earlier this month.

As the government continues efforts to contain Covid-19 cases, PM Lee also urged Singaporeans to avoid heading out as a group, even with family members.

Shop for groceries alone & try to stay home

In his speech, PM Lee advised Singaporeans to adhere to social-distancing measures by staying home as much as possible.

But should the need to head out arises – say for essential services – Singaporeans ought to do so alone, and not head out with their family members.

This includes exercising, grocery shopping and travelling to non-essential places.

Understand the spirit of the guidelines

PM Lee also said that understanding the “spirit of the guidelines” isn’t just about following the law down to the T.

Instead, Singaporeans should minimise heading out into the community to protect ourselves, our loved ones and other Singaporeans.

While the extension would no doubt cause inconvenience, he urged Singaporeans to be understanding and continue adhering to the measures.

More F&B closures on the horizon

With the countdown reset on our Circuit Breaker period, we don’t expect that there’ll be a lot of reasons to head out as well.

More workplace closures are to be expected and some F&B outlets will be affected — a detailed list will be released soon.

Although this means that we’ll have to rely on homecooked meals even more, we should practice safe-distancing while grocery shopping at least for the next 4 weeks dutifully — so we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.
