Proton Wira crosses overflowing Sungai Basik river with ease
A video of a Proton Wira navigating a fully submerged bridge in Kampung Belanga, Kuala Krai, Kelantan, has recently circulated online.
The 12-second clip showed the blue sedan making its way across the flooded bridge and coming back up unscathed.
Flooded river cannot stop Proton Wira
The now-deleted footage has since been reposted online.
According to the WeirdKaya, the Proton Wira intended to cross the bridge over the Sungai Basik River. This bridge is purportedly an important part of a route that many locals in town take for their daily commute, linking Kampung Belanga residents to Kuala Krai town.
Unfortunately, when the video was taken, heavy rains caused the river to rise and flood the bridge, leaving the bridge completely submerged underwater.
However, this did not stop the Proton Wira driver, who braved the floodwaters.
As the vehicle crossed the bridge slowly, the water could be seen rising to either side of the car. At one point, the hood of the Proton Wira was almost completely covered by floodwaters.
The river current could also be seen moving against the vehicle as it crossed the bridge.
Although nearly halfway submerged, the vehicle pressed on steadily and remarkably made it through the flooded area without any visible damage.
Mixed reactions from netizens
The video has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with many commending the Proton Wira for its durability and ability to cross the river.
One netizen said: “Wira is an excellent car. Very durable and economical”.
Others, however, have raised concerns about the potential dangers and risks associated with such extreme actions.
“It’s very dangerous. The river can easily sweep the car away and drown the driver!” one commenter noted.
