Singapore Patients With Respiratory Symptoms & On 5-Day Sick Leave Could Get Jailed If They Leave The House

It seems like the government is not taking any chances with Covid-19 anymore.

The latest update of the Infectious Diseases Act by the Ministry of Health (MOH) now forbids patients who are issued a 5-day sick leave for acute respiratory symptoms from leaving their house.

Patients have to stay at home the entire duration, starting from the date the medical certificate (MC) is issued, according to The Straits Times.

Offenders with 5-day sick leave could get jailed, fined or both

Patients with 5-day sick leave who do not comply will find themselves fined up to $10,000, jailed for up to 6 months, or both.

MOH has urged patients to “follow strictly the 5-day MC regime that has been put in place”.

Citizens, please take note

Citizens could find themselves in hot soup if they are not aware of the severity of this new ruling.

Let’s spread the message to friends and loved ones, and keep our germs to ourselves. Together we can get over this pandemic.
