Taobao Launches First Physical Store At Plaza Singapura
Tired of your Taobao products turning out different from what you expected?
You can wave those worries goodbye, because the Chinese online retailer has opened its first ever physical store in Singapore.
Taobao will be one of 18 tenants housed in NomadX, a new retail concept store in Plaza Singapura.
Offering short-term leases and “plug & play” retail units, NomadX touts itself as a great place for brands to trial new concepts and products.
If you’re already planning a visit with your friends this weekend, here’s what to expect:
1. Taobao
Taobao fans frantically awaiting this weekend’s 11.11 sale have another reason to celebrate.
Known for its range of wallet-friendly products, Taobao fans will now be able to view products firsthand before committing their hard-earned money.
Shoppers can expect lifestyle products like neck massagers.
And even kitchen appliances.
From the looks of things, it appears that prices of Taobao products at NomadX are not marked up.
A quick search on the Taobao website revealed that the neck dryer mentioned earlier is selling at the exact same price.
2. Style Theory SG
Style Theory – a designer dress rental company – will also be premiering its first pop-up store in NomadX.
Dubbed Style Theory Capsule, customers will be able to view their dresses of choice IRL before deciding to rent it.
The pop-up store will also feature personal favourites of fashion influencers like Andrea Chong.
3. Oo La Lab
Looking for a signature scent that screams you? Now you can, at Oo La Lab.
Providing fragrance design and mixology services, you’ll now be able to add a hint of sandalwood to your favourite vanilla scent.
Going down the bespoke route for your fragrance not only allows you to smell different from everyone. Your friends will now be able to identify you instantly through your unique scent.
Regardless of the composition that you’ve gone with, one thing’s for sure — your olfactory senses will surely be awakened. Oo la la~
4. Waa Cow! Express

Here at NomadX, shoppers ain’t the only ones who who’ll have their fill. If you listen carefully, you’ll also hear foodies exclaiming “Shiok!” while wolfing down their meals.
That’s because dining options are aplenty at NomadX, and for us at MS News, one option clearly stands out from the rest.
Introducing Waa Cow! Express, a ‘lite’ version of its full-fledged restaurants in NUS and Raffles Place.
Must-trys at Waa Cow! include their signature beef bowls and umami beef sushi that’s torched to perfection.
One thing’s for sure, you won’t be complaining “wa kao” after having your fill there.
