46-year-old Thai construction worker died following workplace accident on 30 Oct
A Thai construction worker has died after a workplace accident along Marina East Drive on Wednesday (30 Oct) morning.
In response to queries from MS News, a spokesperson from the manpower ministry said the 46-year-old worker was struck by a concrete truck that was entering the premises for refuelling at about 7.55am.
An SCDF spokesperson confirmed that the worker was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic.
Truck driver arrested for negligence
The 41-year-old male concrete truck driver has also been arrested for negligence, confirmed the police.
Following the incident, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) instructed the occupier of the worksite, Koh Kock Leong Enterprise Pte Ltd, to stop all vehicular operations at the refuelling area.
MOM and the police are investigating the incident.
According to The Straits Times, 26 workplace deaths have occurred in 2024 as of 30 Oct.
Earlier in September, two workers died in another accident at a worksite of the upcoming North-South Corridor.
