Toast Beds In Japan Lets You Rest On Your Favourite Type Of Roti
Many of us start the day with a thick piece of toast, slathered with fragrant kaya, but have you ever dreamed of lying in one?
Supermarket Kakamu – a Japanese media company – has created massive toast beds that resemble our favourite roti and we’re betting that it’s fluffy to boot.
The bed serves as a photo spot for visitors of this year’s Bread Festival which was held in Japan’s Totsuka, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Like toasts you’d find in a bakery, some of the beds come with toppings. Here’s a closer look at some of them.
Toast beds with a huge variety of toppings
Many of us like to spice up our toasts with diverse ingredients and this didn’t go unnoticed by Supermarket Kakamu.
This “sleeping buttered toast bed” has the classic Shibuya Thick Toast with a woman wearing butter-coloured pyjamas.
The typical breakfast sandwich has lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise, and cucumbers. The company’s recreated version has tomato and cucumber pillows too, plus a cabbage blanket.
You can easily get a good night’s sleep on top of this pizza toast, especially if you’ve always wanted to snuggle with mushrooms, pepperoni, and cheese.
Couples can even ‘stick together’ better with the help of edible adhesives, aka ketchup and cheese.
Actual pictures look amazing too
Many times, actual pictures of the product fall short of our expectations. But this clearly isn’t the case with these toast beds.
One employee decided to ‘test run’ the fluffy toast bed appeared to have some quality shut-eye alongside pepperoni and veggies.
Hoping for a kaya toast bed soon
We’ve always wanted to sleep in a bed of toast, but unfortunately, it was only available to the public from 19 July to 21 July.
In the meantime, we’re keeping our fingers crossed and hope that a company will manufacture kaya toast beds soon, which will surely be a hit among Singaporeans.
