Water Buffalo Lands On Car After Getting Hit In Malaysia
It is easy for road accidents to occur at night. This is primarily because it can be difficult for drivers to spot obstructions ahead of them.
On Thursday night (23 Feb), a driver in Kelantan, Malaysia, accidentally rammed his car into a water buffalo along the road. As a result, the buffalo landed and crashed on top of the vehicle.
Only one passenger was severely injured, while the rest suffered minor injuries. The paramedics promptly sent her to the hospital for recovery.
Driver hit water buffalo due to poor vision at night
According to Oriental Daily, the traffic accident took place around 11pm along Jalan Pasir Puteh-Tok Bali.
Pasir Puteh district police chief Superintendent Zaizul Rizal Zakaria said a family of five — the parents and their three children — were in the car.
They were returning home to Semerak, Kelantan, from a relative’s wedding in Selising, a neighbouring town about 21km away.
As it was rather late at night, it might have been difficult for the father, the driver, to have proper visibility. As a result, he couldn’t avoid a water buffalo on the road in time and crashed into it.
The water buffalo reportedly flew up into the air due to the impact. It then landed on top of their car, crashing through the glass.
Only one passenger was severely injured
The father and his three children sustained only a few minor injuries and are all in stable condition.
The mother, however, who was in the passenger seat, lost consciousness and sustained severe injuries.
The mother was promptly sent to the intensive care unit of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital for treatment.
Malaysia police will be investigating the case under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
