Saizeriya outlet in Tokyo, Japan has ‘table for one’

On Monday (16 Sept), an X user from Japan shared about a “seat reserved for loners” at a Saizeriya outlet in Japan — basically a ‘table for one’.

The post has drawn over nine million views, 200,000 likes, and a slew of comments from netizens gushing over the seat.

According to Japanese news site Encount, a waiter showed the university student to the seat in question when the latter visited an undisclosed Saizeriya outlet in Tokyo

“Would this seat be alright?” the waiter.

The seat offered was a small desk facing the wall, barricaded on both sides. While initially surprised by the seat, the student happily accepted it.

He even said the fortress of solitude allowed him to focus on and enjoy his meal, away from the prying eyes of other diners.

Netizens demand more solo seaters at more outlets

The student said the seat wasn’t there when he visited the outlet six months ago. The space, which was used for another undisclosed purpose, had been converted into a seat for solo diners.

When the photo of the seat was shared on X, the response was overwhelmingly positive.

One commenter shared their own experience of jubilation when they got a booth seat at Sushiro.

Another said they’d prefer this type of seat rather than taking up a table for four despite coming alone.

One even said they’d be able to spend upwards of five hours there.

This netizen said Saizeriya should introduce these solo seats at all of its outlets. Another user took this sentiment up a notch, saying that as someone who often dines alone, they’d like to see seats like these at all restaurants.
