Man experiences ‘milky blood’ after consuming hamburgers for 7 days
A 30-year-old man in Fujian Province, China experienced severe abdominal pain and developed “milky blood” after consuming hamburgers for seven consecutive days.
He was sent to a hospital where medical tests revealed he was suffering from “hyperlipidemic pancreatitis,” a condition where excessive blood fats cause inflammation in the pancreas.
Shockingly, doctors found his blood to be milky white, resembling milk, due to dangerously high triglyceride levels.
The condition occurs due to excessive intake of high-fat foods
According to Malaysia news outlet Oriental Daily, the man had a love for rich, flavorful dishes like hot pot and barbecue. He also frequently indulged in late-night snacks such as fried chicken or burgers after working late hours.
These unhealthy eating habits likely triggered his severe medical condition, which an emergency doctor said required immediate intensive care.
The doctor noted that hyperlipidemic pancreatitis occurs when elevated blood triglyceride levels inflame the pancreas, with free fatty acids causing organ damage.
The condition is often triggered by lack of exercise and an unhealthy diet, particularly from excessive intake of high-fat foods like hamburgers.
In a similar case, another patient in the same hospital ward developed hyperlipidemic pancreatitis after consuming pork leg rice daily for a week.
Additional risk factors include alcohol abuse, obesity, poorly managed diabetes, and certain medications, she added.
The doctor emphasised that severe abdominal pain should never be ignored, as it could indicate a life-threatening condition.
